Dance Magic Instructors and Assistants Bios:

Megan Brooks is a former 9 year member of the Dance Magic Performing Co. and has received numerous awards and scholarships for her performances. She also performed with Antelope Valley Ballet for many seasons. Megan trained with and assisted Thommie Retter (Broadway cast member of the Tony Award winning Billy Elliot) and has furthered her dance education with many renowned teachers and choreographers at annual seminars and conventions. She has choreographed for recitals, competitions and Alpha Charter Guild community events. Megan was a featured dancer in Oklahoma, Illuminations and AV College’s Dance Dimensions.

Kathleen Burnett is the executive/artist director and co-founder of the Antelope Valley Ballet Co. She produces The Nutcracker and a spring ballet on the company annually and has greatly enriched the arts education in the Antelope Valley. Ms Burnett earned her M.F.A. at the University of Oklahoma where she rose to the rank of Assistant Professor. While in Oklahoma she choreographed 9 ballets for the Oklahoma Festival Ballet, served as their Ballet Mistress and as a principal dancer for the company. She was awarded the Outstanding Faulty Award in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma and received the Ballet Choreography Award (twice). In 1996 Kathleen moved to Los Angeles and accepted a teaching position at Tremaine Dance Center and toured the country teaching ballet with the Tremaine Dance Conventions. Ms Burnett currently teaches at Antelope Valley College, Dancin in Acton and Dance Magic.

Kimberly DiDomizio has danced at Dance Magic since age 3 and has taught and assisted at the studio since 1997. She was also a member of our Dance Magic Performing Co. for several years. Kimberly was a member of the Antelope Valley Ballet for many years and assistant to the artist director for four years. Her roles with AVB include: “Lead Russian” and “Flower Demi Soloist” in The Nutcracker, “Big Swan” in Swan Lake and “Peaseblossom” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  She has served the community by doing choreography for Miss AV and Miss Eastside pageants. Kimberly received her B.A. in Liberal Studies at Cal State University Bakersfield and also teaches in elementary schools.

Nicole Franklin received her dance training at Dance Magic, Edge Performing Arts Center and AV College. She has choreographed for Antelope Valley Ballet, Dance Dimensions, Dance Magic Performing Co., Quartz Hill and Knight High School dance teams. Her choreography has won numerous awards and was displayed as the opening performance for the televised 2009 Hollywood Christmas Parade. She is currently teaching at Dance Magic, leading the Knight HS dance team and pursuing her degree in Fine Arts at Cal State Fullerton. Nicole also is a company member of Hidden Entropy Movement Project.

Rochelle Guardado is a dancer, teacher and choreographer.  She has taught at various performing arts institutions such as Orange County High School of the Arts, Antelope Valley College, AV Performing Arts Conservatory and many Southern California dance studios.  In 2007 she founded and is currently the artistic director for the Hidden Entropy Movement Project; a contemporary dance company that performs in the Antelope Valley and Los Angeles areas.  She is also the co-director for the AV Dance Ensemble which is a college based dance company.  She has been a company member of Gluck Modern Touring Ensemble, Antelope Valley Ballet, Hidden Entropy Movement Project and Joseph Allen Decker Dance Company.

Kelsey Gunzel performed with the original Dance Magic Performing Co and won many awards and was honored with a scholarship at the Hall of Fame competition. She has done an outstanding job as the leader/choreographer of our Mini/Junior Team for two years. Kelsey is also the coach of the Lancaster Jethawk’s Hawkettes. She has received her AA from Antelope Valley College and is currently continuing her education there. Kelsey has performed with the Antelope Valley Ballet, Dance Dimensions, and Illuminations and has trained with many famous choreographers such as: Mandy Moore, Travis Wall and Tyce Diorio at annual dance conventions.

Lauren Hudson is a former member of the Dance Magic Performing Co. During high school she pursued a career as a professional dancer, actor and singer. She has appeared on Heros, The Jonas Show, Victorious, the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, the Nickelodeon film “School Gyrlz”, and “Sunday School Musical”. She also competed and performed with Shane Sparks hip - hop company “Floor Rockers” for 4 years. In 2009 she auditioned for the Fox TV show So You Think You Can Dance and made it to the top 25 girls. Her singing career began when she landed a spot in the triple threat girl group, “The Stunners”, who toured with Justin Bieber on the 2010 My World Tour. The group also appeared on the Today Show and Wendy Williams Show to perform one of their singles “Santa Bring My Soldier Home”. Among her many credits are the Best Buy Superbowl commercial with Jusitn Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne,  and several Wii commercials. She currently is choreographing for the Dance Magic Performing Co and pursing her college degree.

Melissa Miller has performed with the Antelope Valley Ballet as a company member since 2004. She was also a 9 year member of the award winning Dance Magic Performing Co. and attended many dance conventions training with numerous renowned choreographers and teachers. She assisted Thommie Retter (Broadway cast member of the Tony Award winning Billy Elliot) with the Miss Hollywood pageant dance and was a back-up dancer in the Ashley Argota music videos. Melissa successfully coached our Junior Tap Team for their 2009 season. She is currently teaching at Dance Magic, attending college and performing as a Lancaster Hawkette at the Lancaster Jethawk stadium.

Tracie Phillips received her training at Extensions Performing Arts Academy, Dance Magic and Antelope Valley College. She attended the Alvin Ailey summer intensive in 2008. Tracie received multiple scholarships from West Coast Explosion and Tremaine Dance Conventions. She is currently an In Residence-Guest Artist for the Antelope Valley Ballet and has danced many major roles with the company since 2001. Highlights of her roles include: “Clara”, “Spanish” and “The Dew Drop Fairy” in The Nutcracker,  “Evil Stepsister” in Cinderella, “White Rabbit” in Alice in Wonderland and “Firebird” in Firebird.

KD Reilly trains at Dance Magic and AV College and is a principal dancer for Antelope Valley Ballet on their ensemble group. She has danced the roles of “Alice” in Alice in Wonderland, “Hermia” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, “Little Swan” in Swan Lake and “The Dew Drop Fairy” in The Nutcracker to name a few. KD performed with the Dance Magic Performing Co. from 1998-2007 and has attended annual conventions learning from teacher/choreographers such as Brian Friedman, Greg Russell and Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo. KD has also contributed to the community by teaching praise dance at summer camps, performing at local churches and for school children to promote performing arts in the school system.

Avienne Walker has trained at Dance Magic, The Floor Rockers with Shane Sparks, The Rage Dance Studio with Nick Lazzarini, American Ballet Theatre and Westside School of Ballet. She is a member of The Antelope Valley Ballet Co. and has danced with the company since 1998. Her many roles with the company include: “Ballerina Doll”, “Mouse King”, “Lead Russian” and “Spanish” in The Nutcracker, “Tweedle Dee” in Alice in Wonderland and “Little Swan” in Swan Lake. Avienne is also a member of Hidden Entrophy Movement Project and has danced many feature roles in AV College’s Dance Dimensions.
