Dance Magic Instructors and Assistants Bios:

Megan Brooks is a former 9 year member of the Dance Magic Performing Co. and has received numerous awards and scholarships for her performances. She also performed with Antelope Valley Ballet Company for many seasons. Megan trained with and assisted Thommie Retter (Broadway cast member of the Tony Award winning Billy Elliot) and has furthered her dance education with many renowned teachers and choreographers at annual seminars and conventions. She has choreographed for recitals, competitions and Alpha Charter Guild community events. Megan was a featured dancer in Oklahoma, Illuminations and AV College’s Dance Dimensions. She is continuing her dance education at The Edge and at Cal State Northridge University. Megan is currently a student at Cal State Northridge pursuing a degree in Communication Disorders. She has just completed her 20th dance recital at Dance Magic and is a choreographer/leader for the Dance Magic competition teams.


Kathleen Burnett is the executive/artist director and co-founder of the Antelope Valley Ballet Company.  Ms. Burnett earned her M.F.A. at the University of Oklahoma where she rose to the rank of Assistant Professor. While in Oklahoma she choreographed 9 ballets for the Oklahoma Festival Ballet, served as their Ballet Mistress and as a principal dancer for the company. She was awarded the Outstanding Faulty Award in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma and received the Ballet Choreography Award (twice). Ms. Burnett moved to Lancaster in 1998 and co-founded the Antelope Ballet Company. Her students and former company members have gone on to dance with a variety of professional companies including Houston, Pittsburgh and Dayton Ballet. She currently produces, The Nutcracker, a contemporary production and a spring ballet each season for the Antelope Valley Ballet Company.


Danielle Glover was the captain and choreographer of her middle school dance team, and won the title Super Dancer both years she attended dance camp with the team. Danielle was a member of both the Dance Magic and Extensions Performing Company's for a combined total of 9 years, while simultaneously coaching New Vista Middle School's dance team, and choreographing for the dance team at Quartz Hill High. She has performed with the Antelope Valley Ballet in their production of The Nutcracker as “Russian”, and also in AV College’s productions of Dance Dimensions. Danielle has been part of the dance ensemble cast in musicals put on by the local Cedar Street Theatre. She has attended annual conventions where she's received numerous scholarships and awards, and was able to study under many renowned teachers and choreographers; including Laurie Johnson, for whom she has recorded instructional tap videos for Tremaine Conventions, and she has also performed professionally in Los Angeles.


Joshua "Chino” Kiley started his hip-hop training as a BBoy (breakdancer) in 2007. He trained in a variety of hip-hop styles in studios in North Hollywood (Movement Life, Debbie Reynolds, & Millennium Dance) and has attended various conventions.  Chino auditioned for the two-year conservatory program for the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and was accepted for a position. He has served as a choreographer for InspirASIANS dance group and the Link Crew Carnival (2012-2013). Chino also performed with and choreographed for the Lost Kidz Crew, BMG and Antelope Valley College’s Dance Dimensions.


Jesse Marks performed with Houston Ballet and Hubbard Street II in Chicago. He is currently a principal dancer with the Antelope Valley Ballet Company. Jesse’s many lead roles with AVB include; “Prince Siegfried” in Swan Lake, “Oberon” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the “Prince” in The Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. He brings his wealth of professional experience to Valley Ballet Academy as a men’s class instructor and a pas de deux coach. He also is a technique and contemporary instructor/choreographer.


Melissa Miller performed with the Antelope Valley Ballet as a company member since 2004. She was also a 9 year member of the award winning Dance Magic Performing Co. and attended many dance conventions training with numerous renowned choreographers and teachers. She assisted Thommie Retter (Broadway cast member of the Tony Award winning Billy Elliot) with the Miss Hollywood pageant dance and was a back-up dancer in the Ashley Argota music videos. Melissa successfully coached our Junior Tap Team for their 2009 season. She also performed as a Lancaster Hawkette at the Lancaster Jethawk stadium.


Tracie Phillips is currently a principal dancer for the Antelope Valley Ballet Co. and their ballet mistress. She has trained with the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre in New York. Tracie has danced many major roles with the company since 2001. Highlights of her roles include: “Clara”, “Spanish” and “The Dew Drop Fairy” in The Nutcracker, “Evil Stepsister” in Cinderella, “White Rabbit” in Alice in Wonderland, “Songbird Fairy” in The Sleeping Beauty and “Firebird” in Firebird. Tracie successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 and is certified to teach the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She is also the director of the Dance Magic Performing Co.


Ashley Poland has trained at Dance Magic Studies since she was 6 years old and is a former four year member of the Dance Magic Performing Co. She attended Inland Pacific Ballet’s extended Summer Intensive in 2011, to expand her ballet training. She has been a company member with Antelope Valley Ballet for six years where she has danced the roles of "Spanish", "Flower Demi-Soloist", and "Marzipan" in The Nutcracker. She has also performed with the company in Midsummer's Night's Dream, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty and Coppelia.


Alex Pulido has danced with Janet Jackson, Sean Kingston, Panic! At The Disco, Jesse McCartney, and on Nickelodeon's hit show Dance on Sunset. He was a featured lead actor in the movie Bad Teacher starring Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel and Justin Timberlake in (2011). You may have also seen him on the featured film movie The Runaways starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning playing his role as the DJ in (2010). Alex's choreography credits include competitions and events including the Lancaster Blvd Halloween event BOOlvd (2012) and most recently for Brandon Pulido and his dancers who performed at the Avalon Hollywood (2014).  He competed on Dance Magic’s and Extensions Performing Co. where he received many scholarships and top awards. He has trained with Tyce Diorio, Gregg Russell, John Crutchman, Napoleon D'umo, and Stacey Tookey. Alex’s Antelope Valley Ballet roles include: “Spanish”, “Soldier Doll”, and “Chinese” in The Nutcracker.


KD Reilly is a principal dancer for the Antelope Valley Ballet Company. She has danced the roles of “Alice” in Alice in Wonderland, “Hermia” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, “Little Swan” in Swan Lake and “The Dew Drop Fairy” in The Nutcracker to name a few. Her most recent accomplishment was the lead role in AVB’s “Coppelia”. KD performed with the Dance Magic Performing Co. from 1998-2007 and has attended annual conventions learning from top teacher/choreographers. KD has also contributed to her community by teaching dance at summer camps, performing at local churches and in classroom demonstrations to promote performing arts in the school system.


Vicki Zarley is the owner/director of Valley Ballet Academy and Dance Magic Studios. She received her dance training at The Cole Academy, Ball State and Indiana University. After moving from Indiana to California Vicki studied with a variety of teachers at the Tremaine Dance Center and Stanley Holden Dance Center in Los Angeles and then performed as a member of the Antelope Valley Ballet Co. She has also attended many teacher seminars including the Ballet Magnificat training in Jackson, MI and the American Ballet Theatre trainings in San Jose, CA and New York City, NY. Vicki has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 and is certified to teach the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She founded Valley Ballet Academy and implemented this curriculum at Dance Magic Studios in 2013.
